You where challenging my assertion that the "military industrial complex" is a smaller part of our economy than it was under Eisenhower (or any WWII or post WWII president before Bush II other than Clinton). How big the "complex" is compared to other countries is irrelevant to that point.

No, its very much the point. You have been trying to diminish the impact the complex has on the US and dismissing my comment that it creates a military mindset in this country by stating its much smaller than it was during WW II. In fact, it may be much smaller than during WW II,and that's because we haven't been in a WW since the 1940s. That is why I am suggesting to compare it's size to the complexes in other countries. As you well know, the amt we spend on defense is equal to the rest of the world's defense budget. That suggests that the American defense complex and its expenditures influence this country and the decisions it makes far more than it does in other countries.......with the notable exception of Israel. In fact, I think its fair to say that currently, Israel and the US are the two most militaristic countries on the planet.
