I had a debate with someone on VFC about a year ago after having seen the PBS film by a leading scientist Hansen.. He had taken years to measure certain diminishing climate related
issues... And I got enthusiastic about sharing the info.

I lost the debate after some really intelligently presented arguments I went back to my what does it matter attitude ignoring any more environmentally related issues...although I drive a Prius and use those light bulbs we are supposed to use.

Then over the week-end I Tivo's An Inconvenient Truth from a premium channel and watched it last night. I got all intrigued again about
how our Country is the worst of the polluters to our atmosphere and that included China and the Soviet Union which are big coal producers and users..We are the worst. Imagine.

I became persuaded again that there are looming issues here and that a great deal of the opposition to recognizing them is brought on by our lobbyists who do everything they can to discredit any factual information. Our not signing the Kyoto Accord... along with Australia certainly bespoke of our reluctance as a country to take any steps to curb the Co2 that produces this layer above our earth that returns the heat
molecules... to warm the earth to temperatures never before recorded.. THIS includes the oceans which eventually will lead to many more serious hurricanes.

This is a political issue but it is more a World issue.
All of us have this one planet to share and we all should be taking every action necessary to preserve it.

I recommend any one with doubts, see the film and then argue the facts and merit of it. It really is not open to debate.

Our planet is changing. And the worst for me preceded my viewing this film. It was about Penguins. Now, I love Penguins. And it was about how far they have to walk over ice now to find water... AND how many fall down cravats that are created by large chunks of glaciers breaking off. They cannot
fly out so they die...

You can get to me with dogs, cats, elephants and penguins....

No, the alternate position is that solar activity causes global warming and cooling, and that C02 levels are an effect of warming, not a cause of it.

One scientist compared it to a car, saying the global-warming activists don't want to look at the engine, which is the sun, or the transmission, which is water-vapor, then would rather concentrate on one lug nut on the right rear tire, which is man-made C02 emissions.
