This is different description than the one you originally provided. Perhaps your initial post was mistyped. Just the same, Hitler did not sacrifice his principle for an agenda. Nor was he corrupt, in the usual meaning of the word.

Gandhi, went to great lengths to curb the normal human instinct of hitting back when hit...and he did it to the extreme. Technically that qualifies as "perversion" and "extremism".

The bottom line is that "extremism" is an emotionally charged words that is primarily used to scare the public from listening to one's opposition. I bet political extremism means very different things in North Korea or China or Saudi.
