I don't think AMD does have to do such a large dilution at this point. I don't think its balance sheet and cash flow are so bad that the companies future is at risk if it doesn't raise massive amounts of cash now. If it does need to raise some it could make a smaller sale/offering, but I'm not even sure that is really necessary.

(Of course if it does really become clearly necessary, the stock price will be even lower and more dilution would be required to raise the same amount of cash)
