Thanks Euterpe. We could probably make a long list of people who pretty much outlined the problems we are facing in Iraq right now, BEFORE the invasion, but my guess is it won't convince anyone who wants to say over and over again "But NO one could have expected..."

It's a great line, and people won't want to give it up, even if it isn't true.


I'm sure since there was much discussion on the topic of invading Iraq that you can find people who predicted the current situation, but you're not going to claim that it was relatively mainstream, are you? I can recall very little discussion of what would happen post-Saddam back in those days. Most of the discussion was on 1- justification for the invasion, and 2- the war part. VERY LITTLE discussion was given to the post-major combat operations part of the campaign (the part which seems to have gone really really poorly), as I recall.
