re: GLBC - $30

guys,
I joined you in GLBC - in fact, Global Crossing is one of my very first investments in the telecom carrier segment post 2001 restructuring..

I had Mpower Inc. MPWR (later MPE) after they emerged from Chapter 11 in 2003/2004 though... that was a western US nice regional fiber and UNE-L play, a different category altogether.. recently they were taken private by a venture based west coast regional carrier consolidator..

back to GLBC, it appears to me that Global-Crossing should be valued similar to LVLT over the midterm, instead of 1/5 of LVLT's EV/R ratio. Both companies' bizmodel is pretty comparable. Both are IP-centric and both seem to be able to produce similar gross margins..

as long as the operational picture isn't looking any worse, this could be quite a patient play for me. Also like that they cannot be scouped up by private equity interests for "peanuts" like a 25-30% premium. Singapore Telecom as a majority holder is a powerful insurance policy against that !

all the best
CROSSY

Global Crossing Partners With Winning Networx Consortium Bid Led by AT&T
Friday March 30, 1:28 pm ET

FLORHAM PARK, N.J., March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Crossing (Nasdaq: GLBC - News), a leading global IP solutions provider, today announced that it will provide global telecommunications services to its partner AT&T Government Solutions, a business unit of AT&T Inc., that was awarded the Networx Universal contract yesterday by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).
Under the Networx Universal contract, Global Crossing will support AT&T in its efforts to compete for task orders for telecommunications, networking, and related services. These include such in-demand government services as SDH/SONET, optical wavelength, international private line, Ethernet, video collaboration and dark fiber.

In addition to Global Crossing, the AT&T-led team consists of industry- leading networking and IT partners such as Northrop Grumman Information Technology of McLean, Va.; EDS of Herndon, Va.; GTSI Corp. of Chantilly, Va.; SRA International, Inc. of Fairfax, Va.; Bechtel National of Frederick, Md; and Cingular Wireless of Atlanta, Ga. Cingular is now part of the new AT&T.

"We bring a number of fundamentally important global capabilities, such as scalable global networking and collaboration, IPv6 connectivity and security to the AT&T-led Networx team," said John Legere, Global Crossing's chief executive officer. "We're excited to be working with AT&T as one of their Networx partners and look forward to supporting the government's communications needs around the world."

Networx Universal is an Indefinite Delivery - Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a potential value of $20 billion over the next ten years.

Networx consists of two contract vehicles to which the AT&T team has submitted bids: Networx Universal, which was awarded on March 29, 2007, and Networx Enterprise, which is expected to be awarded in May. Networx will replace the expiring GSA Federal Technology Service 2001 (FTS2001) and FTS2001 Crossover contract vehicles.

The IDIQ contract gives AT&T, Global Crossing, its partners, and others the right to compete for specific task orders within the scope of the Networx Universal contract.
