PREVIEW: FOMC RATE DECISION EXPECTED AROUND 2:15PM
- currently economists expect the Fed to hold rates at 5.25%. A survey of more than 90 analysts is unanimous in the expectation the FOMC will not change rates today.
- Fed Fund Futures also anticipate that the Fed will maintain rates
**reminder: in the minutes of the Jan 31st meeting the FOMC stated:
- FOMC decided against dropping the tightening bias
- All FOMC members agreed that the statement should say that additional firming was possible
- Members agreed change in rates not warranted at this time
- Members agreed to stress inflation risks remained
- Fed's predominant concern was that inflation would fail to ease
- Risks that core inflation will decline are to the upside

**reminder: in the Jan FOMC statement, the Committee added language that was slightly more positive on housing and economic growth, and noted that "readings on core inflation have improved modestly in recent months." In the Dec. statement, the FOMC said " readings on core inflation have been elevated".

Thanks. (I am assuming you rely on standard government mill numbers.)
