First off, its not just Armitage that says he is the source. Novak says it and Woodward confirms Armitage told him the same thing.

Why in the world would Armitage lie to make him potentially a target for indictment? Assuming that telling anyone Plame was CIA was a crime, which apparently it wasn't since Fitzgerald knew and didn't indict Armitage.

And your logic that because Armitage wasn't charged "proves" that Plame was not covert is totally ass backward logic. It doesn't prove anything.

If Plame was covert under the law, Armitage should have been indicted. He wasn't. So Fitzgerald either believe a crime wasn't committed or he was an incompetent corrupt prosecutor who failed to indict someone who was admittedly guilty.

You may not like the conclusion but its inescapable.
