I was amazed at the versatility of the bow.

And it is a specialized skill that takes a lot of practice. The history of the longbow in Britain is fascinating. It rose to prominence, won the battles, and then subsided because the crown was not willing to pay to keep the archers at it all year round. It took that to keep them sharp.

In many situations, it is superior to guns.
