yeah it was in the best interest that those Iranian embassy hostages stay where the were for 444 days. A couple more years of Carter and every US citizen would have been a hostage. The guy was a coward and a loser. He would have surrendered to Hitler and Tojo

Jimmy the peanut farmer's last act was to oversee a peanut butter "shortage" which tripled the price of peanut butter. Gas prices more than doubled from .59 to 1.25 on Carter's watch. The cold war was in full swing with a three year plan to develop medium range missiles to circle Russia.

It's real easy to forget what things were like when these various scumbags were in office, but there has not been a time in the past 40 years when a single one of them had "the best interest of the people in mind". For all practical purposes, these guys step into office as figureheads for a government that exists below the people's radar screen. While I don't disagree the current Bush is one of the worst, the idea that any of them have been "good" is naive. As close as I can tell, the least bad of them were the ones either impeached or assassinated.
