THAI will certainly have to be priced to make it worthwhile to potential adopters. It will have to compete with SAGD and VAPEX and nuclear (modified SAGD), but I think there is lots of room there to make it a compelling proposition.

If you had a property to develop, and could do it at half the cost, increase your recovery, produce a better (upgraded) product, with faster deployment, wouldn't you be willing to pay a 10% royalty?

Understand your concern, however, THAI is way beyond a concept; solid research, full scale pilot significantly exceeding design and an exceptionally talented engineering and management team aggressively moving THAI toward comercialization. I'm invested and have followed their effort for nearly two years. Every technical concern I've had has been addressed except down hole corrosion and combustion gas bypass. Based on the performance to date, I'm guessing they've taken both those concerns into account with downhole metalurgy and computer simulation. The information in their London presentation this past Monday <http://remotecontrol.jetstreammedia.com/13283> is outstanding. Regarding the SAG-D producers and other competing technologies, <http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=23320557>. All MHO.
