i've seen at least one news report that asps are not down for cpus as a whole. meaning the asp problem is amd's alone to bear.

Correction: Selling more high-end parts will solve the problem.

AMD achieved "record unit share" by pushing tons of low ASP product. They got closer to their goal of 30% market share, but further from their goal of sustained profitability.
