MD -

I'll look into the flax seed. Sounds like a good thing. Thanks.

...grind enough for about one week

I read in a newsletter I get from a doctor that ground flax seed loses its potency too fast to allow grinding it ahead of time. I did my own grinding to get my cholesterol down, but gave it up as too much of a mess and nuisance. I now take "Cholest-Off" which I buy at WalMart. 2 a day has my C levels coming down to almost acceptable levels. I'm now something in the area of 210, with my triglycerides and HDL at very desirable levels.

I was told by a nurse practitioner in NC that one cup of flax seed.... brown or golden(health food store has it in bulk so why do you grind yours ?) mixed with one cup of prune juice and one cup of applesauce.... mixed well and then two tablespoons taken once a day will do wonders for the following:

Constipation and keeping one REGULAR as mother and dad used to say...

She also illuminated me with the news that one should have an elimination after every meal..

Good luck. Works for me and beats out all the expensive laxatives, Metamucil etc.

Hi, I have a question.

I sent my sister your article on Flaxseed. I use the ground myself and really like it. She wanted to know the following:

""""has the ground flaxseed helped arthritis better than then flaxseed oil..."""

She takes 1000 mg capsule in the morning and in the evening.

If anyone has an answer or experience with the ground vs the pill I'd appreciate an answer for her. Thanks!

fran

ps... I love it on cereal and on yogurt... I've even put it on sweet potatoes which may cause some of you to 'gag'... but it's good ;)
