Its not maligning to point out that good people can have idiotic ideas. Gandhi was a good person on balance - he influenced the Indian independence movement to be non-violent at least toward the Brits, though not toward other religious groups in India. But he also had some nutty ideas - including about things like sex and diet (hint: he thought drinking urine was therapeutic).
