A missile lobbed at US troops, from Iran proper; an Iranian force taking over the US embassy; the capture of US troops by Iran- that sort of thing. Traditional attack type stuff.

Only the first is missing from what Iran has tried or done already. There is no US embassy in Tehran, as you may recall, since Iranian students (who included the current President) captured it in 1979.

You forgot to mention: killing US soldiers in large numbers. Iran did that at Khobar Towers in 1996.
