Then what you're really saying is the US and Israel are weak-kneed.

Iran is picking on Britain for 1 reason - lack of risk premium in the oil market. They kidnapped the sailors to stoke an international event that would cause oil futures to soar. Notice they didn't go after American sailors because we would have already launched an attack by now. Britain really doesn't have the resouces to attack Iran by itself and Bush has no authority to attack Iran at this point.

It really was an amazing strategy by Iran to put back the risk premium in the oil market that was taken out last summer when the Israelis crushed Hezbelloh. Still, I can't believe the market is giving the Iranians an extra $5 in oil prices to reward them for misbehaving. We should give them a few dozen missile sorties, not an extra billion a day in oil revenues.

I would love to see the market punish bad behavior by reducing market prices of oil. One day the world is going to figure out a more efficient way of dealing with Iranian intolerance, racism, and indecency. Giving them more money for their dastardly deeds seems to reinforce their commitment to terrorism. I think we should wipe out the Iranian government for the act of war against coalition forces. Technically, it was an act of war.
