OK, now look closer at exactly what he said.

once Nokia has ceased actually designing and making CDMA phones, the responsibility for paying royalties on that technology to Qualcomm will pass to its eventual ODM partner(s)

No problem for Q they just get the checks from somebody other than NOK.

Qualcomm royalties only for the IPR it owns in GSM and W-CDMA, while Qualcomm will also have to pay Nokia for its IPR in those areas, which may actually work out with Qualcomm owing it more than it owes Qualcomm.

Note the operative word MAY. Obviously an opinion couched in speculation.

Interesting to note that he seems to validate Q's IPR position in GSM.

When asked what would happen in the event of there being no deal on April 9, Simonson said cash payments to Qualcomm would cease until a new deal was in place.

Yep, that is Nok's position and it has been stated many times. They have also stated that they will accrue those payments on their balance sheet until such a time as an agreement is in place.

How do you equate these statements with your definitive Nok will never pay Qualcomm another dime??
