Oh I can see the merits of the British defeating the Argentinian military. Probably the most important aspect was the Argentine military junta was tossed out... throwing presumed lefties out of airplanes over the atlantic went out of fashion.. (but not before an estimated 30,000 people were "disappeared" in a similar fashion..) The emperor wasn't wearing clothes or the more modern phrase they were naked when the tide went out.

A friend of mine who has made oblique hints that he used to be part of the IRA stated that he respected (but strongly disagreed) with the "iron lady". People tend to respect strength and "cajones".
