I know not all doctors are...sympathetic...to herbal products, but many aid the liver, and support it in its detoxification of the body. Here's a short list :schizandra, turmeric, milk thistle, rosemary, sage, garlic, green tea, cruciferous vegetables and garlic

I would think her doctors might not have a problem with rosemary (I drink that as a tea just because I like it, as I do lavender), or turmeric (since it is a spice- and it also has potent antibiotic qualities, and is anti cancer- I take it for it's antibiotic character- 1/2 tsp, 3 times a day, mixed in water. I've grown to like the taste. My husband, who has had some liver damage from working around aircraft chemicals in the navy, takes it to support his liver. His enzymes, which used to be abnormal, are now normal- could just be coincidence, of course), os sage and garlic (again, spices). Anyway, just something to think about. Interestingly, when I was looking in to liver support I noticed there was a link between liver supportive herbals and foods, and anti-cancer herbals and foods.

I forgot to mention that my friend who had the breast cancer was on tamoxifen (sp?), but it made her so sick she quit. The doctor really wanted her on it though, and last I talked to her, she was going to try to go back on. I need to call her- so when I talk to her I'll ask her if she is back on. Since she's had a lot of procedures if your friend has any questions I'd be happy to pass them on. Just PM me, if you feel more comfortable doing that.
