OFF TOPIC ... >>> I'm experiencing deja vu all over again. Specifically, about a long evening in a bar on Okinawa many years ago, with some fellow Marines, watching a guy at the bar knocking back glasses of saki. <<<

Speaking of Japanese drinks, I visited Japan last September and had the opportunity to visit a bar I called the Japanese "Cheers."

They had a bottle of Saki on the bar that had a Cobra snake inside the bottle. It was fermenting I guess.

Anyway, they had a drink, I can't say what it is called in public. They put a shot of this Saki in a shot glass. The shot glass was then placed in a bowl of Irish Whiskey and something else. I forget what it was. They lit the bowl on fire. Then a glass was placed over the bowl to smother the flame. The glass filled with smoke.

The object was to then swallow the shot of snake fermented Saki and then very quickly take a straw and inhale the smoke from the glass.

They issued a vomit bucket with the drink. I knew to step aside then!

I proudly claimed to the patronage that I was too much of a wimp to indulge in their favorite drink.

When one patron didn't have to use the bucket, he received a standing ovation. Can't wait to go back and visit that place! Taking the Missus this time. <lol>

BTW, Semper Fi!
