"foolish to proceed towards a possible full shutdown of there North America WCDMA market followed by European and other Pan-global markets"

It's not like they can just concentrate on GSM either. The Q has a real claim on the IP of GSM for which they have never been paid. And those claims will proceed quite independently of the CDMA licensing imbroglio.

Again I see the wisdom of Maurice's logic: sign with QCOM or go back to making footwear.

I have been criticized for seeing the Qcom-NOK war as important to the future of the United States, because the US is becoming so dependent upon being a think tank rather than manufacturing. On CNBC the other day, someone mentioned that the biggest export of the US is IPR. Therefore, I don't think I have exaggerated the stakes from the POV of US industry.

"Nokia would be extreamly foolish to proceed towards a possible full shutdown of there North America WCDMA market followed"

Have you noticed that there is no "Nokia North America WCDMA market" at the moment. For a good reason.
