This is about life in America. This is about American values. I care about us. Kids going to Rutgers and playing basketball didn't do anything to Don Imus. Why is he making obscene racist and sexist remarks against these kids before millions of listeners and viewers. What if it were your daughter and somebody made comparable comments against them in front of millions of people? How is it funny or in anyway right for people to call and use hatefull language against anyone. I know most of the people on this thread disagree with me but I find Don Imus behavior in this instance extremely upsetting. Well you certainly missed the point I was trying to make. Why is it fine for Black entertainers to refer to white women as ho's and bitches, but for a white man to say the same thing about black women and it is a disaster. Why is it proper for black entertainers to show black and white women as pieces of meat, and call them Ho's and Bitches in Music Videos and in movies and no one objects? why is it just Don Imus is a terrible person? Frankly I am tired of the double standard that says that if a black leader calls for the death of white jews it is rhetorical, and allowed, but if a White man makes an equally stupid comment it is heresy. Like it or not Don Imus lives in a culture where black men call women Ho's and bitches in every kind of media, perhaps the solution is for women to demand better from black men. But if you insist on allowing people to call degrading women art, and insist that because they are Black it is acceptable, then expect the rest of the culture come to the same conclusion. Look at the way Black American Culture glorifies Pimps and Drug Dealers and then get back to me about their sensitivity on the subject.

It seems to me that almost everyone on this thread is outraged by Imus racist smear. Just because they are point out other relevant issues doesn't change how they feel about Imus.

I think few if any here thinks Imus' behavior was okay, but some of them are distracted by Sharpton's involvement. Which is why Imus went to Sharpton. He got some A1 PR advice there. If you'd like I can point out some folks on SiouxNation who think Imus is okay though (Imus is one of their guys after all). You may already know that.

I know most of the people on this thread disagree with me but I find Don Imus behavior in this instance extremely upsetting I think any disagreement with you stems from your isolation of the Imus comments from what goes on in the larger media, entertainment and political scene. Personally, I find it, let's say unseemly, to be extremely upset over the Imus comments and not to be at least equally repulsed by similarly racist or outrageous statements from other high profiled individuals, whether they be "activists", artists, athletes, politicians or alleged journalists. Imus was a fool to say what he did. But you can be sure he talks that way all the time, which is why it was so easy for those words to trip off his lips. Biden's stupid comments about Obama fall into the same category. The interesting part of all this is the fact that the Black activists (read Sharpton/Jackson and their ilk) have turned on ultra liberals who are unused to being called on the carpet for their outrageous remarks. They're used to passes not being pummelled...Hence the whining, gnashing of teeth, etc. JMO

Now that the Duke players have been found innocent, I know you will be calling for the resignation of Katie Couric, Chris mattews, the editorial boards of the NY Times and The Washington Post and all the other liberal pundits who suggested that of course these rich white guys would rape a poor black woman. I would assume you know that this was 1000 times worse then calling someone a nappy head ho. these kids were kicked out of school(an ivy league type) lost their scholarship and it cost them 100,000s in Lawyer fees. I know you are not a hypocrite and I expect to see you on all the lib boards demanding that those liberals be fired.
