This points our why Bush and Company are desperately looking for a "Czar." They don't want another level of bureaucracy, they just want one man to have the authority to fight this war. They are at their wits end to get our Military to do what they want.

Perhaps true.

But I'll be damned if I can see the wisdom in getting yet another conventional general (czar) to call the shots in an unconventional war. All these conventional GOs are cast from the same mold. They all go to the same schools, have similar career assignment patterns, and (I'm sure) similar brain electrical wave patterns. Most important to understand is they all germinate their ideas inside the same box.

If the pols are at their wits end to get our military to do what they want, could it not be because they don't know what they want or how to get it and keep changing the mission.

What makes this even more nutty is we now have an Admiral doing Schwartzkopf and Tommy Franks old job, another Admiral running Special Operations Command Europe, and there is serious talk about giving yet another admiral SOCOM.
Though I doubt the latter will happen because I cannot fathom the conventional Navy ever agreeing to making a SEAL a 4 Star.

Nevertheless, we are putting Admirals in command of our war fighting land forces. Now the new bright idea is to name an Army or USMC 4 star "The Czar" and put him in in charge of everyone including the admirals who were just put in charge. It is like they suddenly decided...whoops...maybe Admirals don't know how to do this land war thing.

This would be funnier than watching the three stooges if only so many of our kids weren't getting killed driving around Baghdad...a place they do not belong now and never did.

The Army has a word (acronym) that perfectly describes this mess. FUBAR!
