I know very well that the orthodox political parties in Israel have too much clout for the taste of most Israelis. What you are pointing out is just a symptom of the problem, that the fractious Israeli democracy is working at adjusting. Things change slowly in a democracy when the population is divided over an issue.

This is cherry-picking selected facts without context (especially easy when you don't know the context in the first place) to try to "prove" a point. It will only convince the ignorant.

England has an Established Church too, so is it a theocracy? You could easily make a similar argument - if your listener knew nothing about England.
