You bring up an important point. One of the best ways to deal with risk and to also add to performance is to toggle between large cap, juniors and spec stocks depending on where you are in the cycle.
There are times when the relative risk/reward is better in one part of the market then the other. In early March the value on a risk adjusted basis looked to be in very small stocks, now it looks as though some of the very large PM stocks are breaking higher and their higher quality makes them perhaps equally appealing on a risk/reward basis.
At some point the real reward comes with just cashing out and walking away. IMO that may be a year or less when others are still talking about a 20 year bull.
Right now I like the PMs and energy more than U and BM stocks purely on a risk basis.
