A fine line I agree. It is the lumping that gets one into trouble as people who call us ugly Americans.... I like to think of nations composed of INDIVIDUALS who are very different from one another... There are many factions in Israel right now with whom I would disagree... There are many factions in this Country too.

Israelis did not exist in the 1930s, but the yishuv, the Jewish community that would become Israel did very much exist inside the Mandate of Palestine. But to call people antisemitic simply because they have a problem with Israel's political decisions and actions is a form of reverse racism or prejudice- in that you essentially make it impossible to criticize Israel because Jews happen to live there True enough. However, the favorite tactic is to pretend that you are simply criticizing Israel while holding up a highly distorted litany of Israeli "crimes", exaggerated and removed from any context, holding Israel to the very highest standard - while holding Israel's enemies to NO stardard. This is an old, old trope of not-so-veiled anti-Semitism, which switched to anti-Zionism when the crimes of the Third Reich made outright anti-Semitism unfashionable. As exemplified by the old lines: Jews steal. But other people steal too. Ah! But we were talking about the Jews!
