I've read of Americans giving up their citizenship to beat the IRS. An entire 747 load of 'em - what is that, a few hundred?

I still don't see the provision that says their assets are taxed as if sold.

Ah well. Good riddance. I wish more Americans would renounce their citizenship.

Why are you attacking only Republicans? The Democrats were in power for most of the VN & Korean wars (and started American involvement in both). And the Democrats were in power during the Chinese revolution and during WWII. All of these are conflicts you've recently condemned American involvement in. The truth is it isn't the Republican party that is evil in your bible, its America.

Perhaps you read the liberal Democratic posts on SI and perceive the Democrats of today as being as anti-American as you are? Some of them are and thats America's real long term problem. Your selective hostility to Republicans shows that anti-Americans in other countries perceive liberal Democrats nowadays as their allies against America. It reminds me of that Iranian theothugorcrat recently who declared the Democratic win in the 2006 elections was a victory for their regime.

TJ, there is a way for Americans to escape the extorquerationate USA tax system and Sier Kelly Kameyer took it to escape $1 million [and more] in taxes he owed on paper gains which had subsequently vanished through share price declines.

He came to New Zealand on a big holiday, then shot through to Oz. His method was quite tricky and not for everyone because of lifestyle effects. I believe IRD has STILL, 7 years later, not collected a brass razoo.

He arranged his affairs [other than tax] in the USA, then disappeared right off the IRD radar.

I don't believe they'll ever get him.

He has been dead now for about 6 years.

He had a very enjoyable time here in NZ, which was nice for him.

Personally, I consider a taxation authority which has their "customers" thinking that death is the best way out is not a regime with which I have a lot of sympathy. I prefer Hong Kong's taxation system, which I suspect has fewer per capita escapees who choose death before tax dishonour. I think there are even better tax systems and one of my plans is to create one.

New Zealand has a high suicide rate for various reasons, including taxation. NZers wear black as the national colour, for good reason. It's a decades-long cultural funeral.
