"All I'll say is this: In light of the atrocities Japan committed against Chinese and Korean citizens, it would take a very strong Christian to say that Japan did not deserve the nuke."

That statement is evil. Your conscience has been seared by your political ideology and your Christian-Zionist beliefs.

JF, > I don't think any sane person would say the innocent Koreans, the Iraqi's or the Japanese "deserved" what happened to them. Christian, atheist or whatever.

No individual deserves it, but wars are hardly ever between two individuals.

Japan as a nation was systematically expanding its empire with severe brutality. To take each and every citizen of said nation and weigh his or her culpability one at a time is an exercise in futility. You just can't do it in a time of war.

Hence I don't buy your portrayal of my argument, that I think any individual Japanese citizen deserves to be nuked. Like I said, even the Japanese soldiers are forced to fight or die a shameful death. None of them deserved to die for a pointless cause, either.

But imperialist Japan as a nation deserved it. And imperialist Japan died with the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. All Asians, including the Japanese, are better off without it. Unfortunately, the death of imperialist Japan also included the deaths of millions of Japanese citizens, some of whom are innocent. But what can you do when they are subject to the rule of the emperor by their very identity as Japanese?
