It's an interesting question. The first lines of quote in the Star-Tribune and the "illegitimate" quote match. The Star-Tribune does not give a second line; the "illegitimate" quote does.

Now, did President Davis utter the second line? And if he did, why did the Star-Tribune not report it? Liberal papers (and the Strib is a very liberal paper) have a track record of downplaying reports about threats and intimidation from Islamist groups, so if Davis did say it, they probably would not have reported it.

But did Davis say it? That is the question, and we haven't got to the bottom of it yet. I think I'll ask the guys at Powerline blog; they are in Minnesota and interested in such questions.
