Who said we were ever going to even it? We're not Communists. We just would like to bring the gap under control and keep it from continually increasing.

Keep in mind that LBJ did cut poverty in half. That's a huge accomplishment. Only now is that rate really going up again, but that's not due to liberal social policies.
