Perhaps CJ could address the question better, but they HATE Bush with a passion in Austin. How would you like it if the two Presidents from your state were LBJ and then Bush?

The Chronicle is very pro-business. Always has been. Other than that, they are pretty neutral.

However, Katrina and Rita sparked a shift in tone. They started getting more and more critical of the Bush administration. And the nature of the Bush administration is once you start viewing it critically, you have to become more negative. Because the only way you can be positive is to ignore all the problems.
