here likely wouldn't have been less people killed, and likely would have been more if there had been other people with guns in that Luby's. That's where we disagree. Message 23480228 The elites in this country, rationalizing irrational behavior, removing punishment for unacceptable behavior, supported by politicians using tragedies as these "to score political points", have created a culture that is out of control. The weapons used, are not the problem. The next disaster for America will be a repeat of Beslan. "Gun Free Zone" is the stupidest thing we have done.

"Concealed carry isn't the answer. Your suggestion about armed teachers, with proper training, is a lot better." I don't think concealed carry is such a bad idea, if done right. Make the CC applicants go through a rigorous training and screening, equivalent to what a well trained law-enforcement officer would get. Implement consistent Federal standards. Then, they could be a plus. There really is never a cop around when you need one - it's a law of nature, like Murphy's law. Here in Utah, they have concealed carry, and several other states have adopted Utah's standards and accept Utah's permit. I think the standards are VERY lax. Also, the cost is minimal. As a result, out of state applicants are flooding the tiny staff that grants the CC permits. Done wrong, I agree with you, it just makes us all less safe.
