If you want to be accurate, say they voted to authorize force because they were afraid of taking an unpopular stance.

Come on, what gives you the right to speak for the motivations of all the members of Congress? Enough of the "they think this way, isn't this way terrible!" type of discussion.

You gotta admit though, authorizing the President to make a decision isn't the same as making the decision. The buck stops with the decider on that one.

I can authorize a doctor to do surgery, and if he does a bad job and kills the patient, I made a bad decision, but the ultimate responsibility for killing the patient is his.
