Saddam kept it in the bottle by cruely subduing shiaas and giving sunnis the power. Now we are headed to civil war, which is no solution to the old problem.

Saddam didn't "give" power to the Sunnis.. HE TOOK IT BY FORCE OF ARMS from the majority Shi'a population.

Iraq has been in a state of sectarian violence for decades now. But the Shi'a side was never able to match the technological superiority of the Russian and French weapons possessed by the Sunnis.

Now the shoe is on the other foot and it is our job to ensure that the Shi'a dominated government is required to become more inclusive of the Sunni and Kurdish minorities.
