Let's look at the "joke" for a minute. If she was kidding then she was doing a rather cruel (say nothing of crude ) parody of the "we must make sacrifices to save Our Mother" crowd. You are giving her the benefit of the doubt by crediting her suggestion as serious because otherwise you must believe she is not serious about her Laurie David crusade.

If this was a joke than her deal with David is either a lark or a publicity stunt.
