Bush was captured by the cheney/rummy wing--old white business types and sometimes from the oil patch--plus the christian right. Its Rove and the base thing that did him in. I always have believed Bush to be better than his administration. Its one thing for republicans to get the nomination with some pandering to the right (dems the same deal with their left--thats you) and then moving toward the center upon election. You dont have to move to the center because you are a centrist. It;s just impossible to govern from the wings when the bulk of the country exists in the middle. Simple lesson lost to bush and i fear lost to the next democratic prez.
