Chris, > How many miles do you drive a day, on average? More than 100? Most American families own more than one car..

I try and carpool whenever I can. I don't think I need to drive more than 25 miles a day.

Weekends, however, are a different story. I can easily add up like 100 miles on a Saturday or a Sunday. I just like going out, and here in Southern California, everything is spread out.

If I were living in New York City, I could take mass transit everywhere and that would be more convenient than driving. But NYC is highly urbanized and very crowded, so mass transit makes sense.

That and the 100 miles is a strawman. Current technology is 200 +/- miles on a charge.
