The large point about Iraq which no one considers is in many ways a cultural one, and you described it well. Do we have the staying power to maintain our credibility? Because 'face' is not a feature of our culture, very few recognize that leaving, a serious loss of 'face', will be a huge boost to the terrorists and the fundamentalists. It will empower them tremendously, Iran much more than any others. There are no easy answers, only choices between a bad outcome and a worse one.
