"Unfortunately, we broke it, so the problem is now ours."

Thats a cliche. Iraq was broken long before we marched in. We made it worse, for sure but since we have no means to make it better, why prolong the agony. You are posting like KLP.

The democrats who supported the liberation of Iraq and the War On Terror that now use it as a political pawn to gain power in the short run are nothing more than pathetic.

There's nothing pathetic about trying something for five years, deciding the likely benefit of continuing indefinitely is not worth the effort, and changing plans.

Do you think every human that has ever gone through a career change is nothing more than pathetic? How about a divorce? Governments often raise taxes, then 5 years later analyze the current situation, and lower taxes.

England colonized India, then after the Indians made the ongoing colonization process not worth the effort, the British left. Was the decision to leave pathetic, or just the right one to make based on facts at the time it was made?

At the end of the day the Democrats change of heart reflects the will of the American people, the Republicans (equally political) failure to change their view is in opposition to the will of the American people. Are you saying views held by politicians based more on partisan lines than realities on the ground are pathetic? If so, 95% of the US government is pathetic, but at least the Dems are in tune with the public.
