"dear dimbulb, I cannot believe you and your KHH ,Buffy, are too stupid to read.

you have to take everything he said in context. HERE is the quote:

["There is no military solution to a problem like that in Iraq. Military action is necessary to help improve security... but it is not sufficient. There needs to be a political aspect.” ]

takes both, dimbulb."
______________

Pro, pro, pro...you don't get to wiggle out that easily. Let's review....My original post had this quote

Petraeus says there cannnot be a military solution, only a political one.

Message 23504488

You got all hot and bothered and said THAT IS NOT WHAT HE SAID!

I pointed out that you were wrong. He said exactly this:

Essential to ending the conflict, General Petraeus insisted, was identifying militant groups who were “reconcilable” and to bring them into the political process. “Putting Iraq above personal and sectarian agendas will be critical,” he said, warning that such negotiations would “determine in the long run the success of this effort.

“There is no military solution to a problem like that in Iraq. Military action is necessary to help improve security... but it is not sufficient. There needs to be a political aspect.”

Now,the General made a simple declarative sentence: He said, and I quote: "There is no military solution to a problem like that in Iraq". My quote that you claimed he had never made was, and I quote: "Petraus says there cannot be a military solution, only a political one"

You then try to wiggle around when I called your bluff by saying exactly what I said...that it coudl not be done militarily bu twould require a political solution.

The quote you use had the General talking about using the Military to improve "security" (direct quote), but he nowhere said it was a solution. Rather he said (for the fourth time, now see if you can read: "There can be no military solution to a situation like Iraq".

You are trying to wiggle out of your error by claiming it has to be read "in context". Fine, the context is: No military solution. Military provides security". That is what he said.....

So, just to be clear: Are you saying there can be a military solution to a situation like Iraq? Petraus doesn't think so.
