They want to terrorize the Israelis (imo). That is their goal. They really don't have the political framework in place to get their own nation- so they settle for terrorizing Israel. As a terrorizing device the suicide bomber is effective, and it is logical to employ that device. You imagine the goals you think should be met by suicide bombing- but your imagined goals for them are not their goals.
