I agree that Chris Mathews did a pretty awful job....loaded questions (non-questions), non-issues, phoney cleverness. Any forum with that many people trying to talk isn't going to work very well, no matter the quality of the speakers. I was listening to several talk radio stations both last evening and this morning and the conservative talk hosts were very upset with Matthews and couldn't understand why the republicans had agreed to an MSNBC/Mathews hosting arrangement. Of course, this reminded me that the Democrats had backed out of a Fox hosted debate for exactly the concerns that showed up last night....seemingly biased, tilted questions. Maybe the republicans should have taken their lead from the democrats and not agreed to that host. But since they did, it is what it is and the talk radio guys just need to shut up. who couldn't see what would come out of Chris Matthews? As for the candidates....I liked Ron Paul's concern about privacy and liberties. I thought Duncan Hunter hit his points pretty well. Mitt looked GOOD. McCain was too prepared with his almost shouting talking points....Rudy was Rudy.... As for the question on evolution, I agree. It won't help with most of the voting public to have seen a guy with his hand in the air who doesn't believe in something as broad and generally accepted as evolution (even if the role of a Creator is still acknowledged). I would have preferred a lot more "meat" on Immigration, eneregy independence, fiscal responsibility.....and I was frankly shocked to hear some of the candidates defend the Federal Congress' interference in the Terry Schaivo matter. I would have thought at this date everybody realized either that that was an interference with the rights of the States, that it was an unjustified interference in family matters, or that it was strictly pandering to one vocal interest group....but, nope, there was Brownback claiming they had done the right thing......
