Free installs cannot be *the* measure of acceptance.

I too have this Open Office. Several versions - after all downloads are free and I already paid for my wire. BUT... It's so darn impossible to use. Either it's trying to force its vocabulary on me, or it's unable to use the Microsoft terminology for some legal reasons (IOW, admit that Microsoft has actually created value). Either way, what a waste of my time!

I truly wish this much energy, resources and efforts were pumped into finding cure for some terrible disease, volunteered to assist our schools, or along some other cause to improve our planet and its inhabitants.

Trying to rip apart a business merely because it doesn't fit into another corporation's philosophy cannot become my cause: I am not their tool. Also, I can't begrudge Microsoft its success because for a modest cost I am getting a tremendous value deal.

JIMHO.

Does that include Outlook? Or do we have to only take Word/Powerpoint/Excel? If it is the latter, I doubt that the number is that high if you say "created". How about viewed/edited? Apparently, in spite of all the rage about the web 2.0 sites, less than 2-3% of us are actually producing content sans blogging. Others are just lurkers. I suspect the same is true of all the MS office products except for outlook.
