I quickly consult with the powers around Iraq, China, Russia and the EU. Even though it will be in Iran's interest to "help", I'm going to be willing to take their help, and I'm going to hope no major powers stand in the way of that help. I don't want them to be a winner, but I see they will be anyway- so why not just take the help they will give me now, for the juicy opportunity they will get. At this point I will take the help of all players in the region (and anyone else), and I will try to get our troops out ASAP.

I want to assure stability of oil, obviously, and I figure Iran will try to make sure that happens. Iran doesn't have a huge interest in destabilizing the world oil markets- because China, Russia and the Eu are involved, and they are a heck of a lot more sympathetic to Iran than we are, and Iran wouldn't want to screw them publicly, even if it would like to screw the US.

I think I would hope to heck I could put a plan together quickly that would allow us to leave the region, but not destabilize the rest of the ME- even if it means Iraq has a civil war that rages unabated for a while. The main thing is to contain the civil war, and to protect the oil supply from disruption. I think that could probably be done.
