Everything else is a mere garnish, a sprig of parsley..

Oh, I disagree.

I've been reading an intriguing book on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict written by a leading Palestinian. He rarely mentions Iraq in that book. However, my point is that we all, US citizens, see, as does the Bush administration, Iraq as the center of US foreign policy.

And the ability of the US to address other issues, say the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, is conditioned on the mess the Bush administration made in Iraq.

But those other issues are terribly important. The spread of state based nuclear capability is a terribly important issue, for instance. One of the presidential candidates, I think it was Obama, brought it up with reference to Sam Nunn's plans to address it. That could be done.

It's just that any discussion would necessarily lead to just how the US' ability to address that issue is damaged by the Iraq mess.
