yes he was elected. Its like getting hired for a job, always a good thing to be hired. But once you are there- it is your PERFORMANCE that counts. Saying being hired is some kind of pristine achievement is kind of shallow. For example, Terry Semel was successful in getting HIRED as yahoo CEO for a lot of money. But nobody cares about that now, it is his performance that counts. You don't hear anybody saying Semel was a success at being HIRED. This observation is pretty obvious.
