Al q may stay but the natives may decide their presence is no longer needed if the US leaves. Since al q is largely foreign and not that large and probably dependent on local support thru tactical alliances with sunni tribes and former baathists i think they are indeed vulnerable to a stalin like purge (after we leave or at least after we set some sort of timetable).
