Before the shiaa went nuts in this round, the sunnis and zarquawi adopted the tactic of starting the sectarian war to prevent the US from having success in establishing a workable federal democracy. Zarquawi succeeded at this. But its unfair to blame the shiaa for starting this. I am not sure anymore but i think the bulk of the car bomb attacks on civilians are sunni on shiaa. I think the shiaa militias lead the way with ethnic cleansing. I dont think these trends are irreversable or that the hatreds run nearly as deep as lets say they did in india/pak back in 48. Shiia/sunni is not the same as islam/hindu was back then.
