For Nadine and Hawk to be correct:

AQ fomented violence between Sunni and Shia. They did so by killing a bunch of Shia. So the Shia in Iraq would have to be a forgiving lot ... you know ... let bygones be bygones.

P.S. What I find really weird is the the US is fighting to keep the same Iraqi government in power that Iran wants in power, i.e., a Shia dominated government leaning towards Iran. The Administration must have figured that out by now. I believe if it wasn't for the "detail" of our involvement in Iraq we would be supporting the insurgents to overthrow the current government.
