"It was a rather stupid thing to do.......a shortie thing if you know what I mean. LOL."

You'd have had to have been there. Dow Chemical executives were eating spoonfuls of DDT on TV. It was the age of "Better Living through Chemistry". Everyone thought the stuff was totally harmless, and John and I were clueless kids. If the ADULTS ate spoonfuls of it, what harm could riding in the cloud behind the mosquito truck do?

Didn't the DDT smell? I would think the smell would have put you off.

I swear to God... we would be sitting at the dinner table and the DDT truck would come by... you could hear it. And little Johnny would say "can I ride my bike behind the DDT truck, pleaaaase?". And Mom and Dad would say "sure", just be careful".

By the way, my Dad was a doctor.

(And yes, it did smell. A sort of mild chemical smell, not unpleasant. Burned your eyes a little. But the cool part was you were riding your bike in this fog so you couldn't see. It was fun!).
